With less than a month to go before Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hits theaters (mark July 15 on your calendars, if you haven't already), a new batch of posters have made their way onto the Internet. And here they are for your enjoyment! Pretty striking, huh?

In addition to the new posters, screenwriter Steve Kloves has spilled some fresh Harry Potter dirt to the Los Angeles Times. In a wide-ranging interview, Kloves reveals that, among the 12 uses for dragon's blood, it makes a pretty dandy spot remover. (This, revealed to him by author J.K. Rowling herself.)

Kloves also dishes about Half-Blood Prince's climactic scene between Snape and Dumbledore, and how it will play out on the big screen.

"It is informed by everything [Potter readers] have come to know is true. So if you watch the film carefully, there are performance moments that are quite extraordinary, Alan Rickman [who plays Snape] especially," Kloves reveals. "There is something we added that you can look forward to, a short scene between Harry and Snape prior to the big event. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays to the audience. It should be a haunting moment for Harry. While I was writing, I just had a notion about a moment between him and Snape, something Harry could look back on and question as to why he didn’t act differently."

Harry Potter Actors to Attend "West End Live" Launch

To celebrate the forthcoming release of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, the sixth instalment in the Harry Potter series, Warner Bros. Pictures have created a magical tour which will roll into Leicester Square, on Thursday, 18th - Sunday, 21st June. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) will attend the West End Live launch on Friday, 19th June.

On Thursday, 18th and Friday, 19th June the tour will be running for prize winners only. On Saturday, 20th and Sunday, 21st June the tour will be run on a first come, first served basis. Everyone who walks through the Harry Potter experience will have the chance to see a selection of the original production sets, some of the iconic costumes as worn by Harry Potter and Dumbledore and props that will include an original Firebolt broomstick.

Prize winners only will have the opportunity to perform a spell "on-camera" and this will be entered into a separate competition to win the ultimate prize. One lucky winner will have an unforgettable film experience: They will win the chance to visit Leavesden Studios in England to see the Harry Potter sets and a chance to appear in one of the final Harry Potter films.

Warner Bros. Pictures UK are working with EA, MSN, SKY and Global Radio who will be running the competitions to win tickets to go on the magical tour in each different venue and have the opportunity to experience a first hand view of the world of a Harry Potter film set.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the video game from Electronic Arts will also be available to play on on-board. Competition winners will be able to enjoy a sneak preview of the new game which will be in stores from July this year.

All winners will also leave the tour with a souvenir photo of themselves.

David Yates, who directed the 2007 summer blockbuster "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," returned to direct "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, is producing the film, together with David Barron. Will recent slump in DVD sales effect Half-Blood Prince?

The Los Angeles Times has an interesting piece on how a recent slump in DVD sales may effect Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince's performance. Or will it?

[WB President Alan] Horn said he doesn't expect the soft DVD market to hamper sales of "Half-Blood Prince" because it's a "unique property." He believes that although budget-conscious consumers have become more selective about the DVDs they purchase, they have been demonstrating a desire to own big films like "Potter," "Transformers," "Twilight" and Warner Bros.' "The Dark Knight," which according to The-Numbers.com was 2008's top DVD with more than 12.7 million units sold domestically.

Although Horn took a lot of flak from "Potter" fans when the studio pushed back the release of "Half-Blood Prince" to July from last November, the move may help boost DVD sales because the film will be released during the heavy gift-buying holiday season.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince' Embraces Complicated Story

Producer David Heyman tells us why adding Jim Broadbent and getting rid of flashbacks was necessary.

Few film franchises live to see six installments, let alone the eight that J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" books will have produced by the end of 2010.

In July, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" faces the challenge of sharing the title hero's spotlight with a cluster of crucial story lines and brings a new major character to the screen. Producer David Heyman, who has been with the "Harry Potter" movies from the beginning, understands the charge of staying loyal to the source material while keeping the screenplays trimmed enough to flow for new audiences.

"The sixth film is very different," Heyman told MTV News, citing the multiple plot threads in "The Half-Blood Prince" that set it apart of the more Harry-focused "Order of the Phoenix."

"We're following Harry and his relationship with Dumbledore and his search for this past and the puzzle and the key to defeating Voldemort," the producer said. "We're seeing some of Voldemort's backstory; we're seeing the budding romantic relationship between Harry and Ginny Weasley and the one between Ron and Hermione, as well as Malfoy."

Giving each of the central characters their due attention, in addition to the romantic developments within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, demanded that director David Yates and the film's producers made a few difficult decisions. In the interests of streamlining the story, they chose to weed out some of the book's flashback sequences, several of which provide key insights into Voldemort's history.

"The most difficult choice was to edit out some of the flashbacks in the memories that Harry explores," Heyman explained. "Each film has to exist on its own terms, and alas, within these memories, they're really significant and actually in the whole body of the series play a very significant part, but within the film they are detours in a way, going into a story about Voldemort, who doesn't really appear in this film."

Paring down Harry's mystic visions was also necessary to make way for another source of revelations in "The Half-Blood Prince": Professor Dumbledore's old colleague Horace Slughorn, played by Jim Broadbent, a newcomer to the "Potter" movies who Heyman credited as an easy casting pick.

"He was absolutely our first choice," Heyman recalled. "You look at Jim's eyes, and you can read so much into them."

As dark as the "Harry Potter" saga gets with "The Half-Blood Prince," the romantic and humorous notes Rowling originally included are just as important leading into her final volume, "The Deathly Hallows," which is currently being filmed in two parts.

"What there also is besides great drama is great humor and great humanity," he said. According to Heyman, nailing Slughorn's casting was crucial to balancing out those dimensions in the sixth movie.

"We wanted Slughorn to be a source of humor," the producer said. "You wanted a character who had airs of grandeur but at the same time was really sympathetic and tragic."

Now that "The Half-Blood Prince" is set for its July 15 release date, Heyman and his latest director David Yates will get to see how far their separate story lines have come, surpassing even Heyman's original expectations.

"The truth is, when I began with [director] Chris Columbus, I thought I was making one film — and if I was lucky, two," Heyman stated. Since moving on to director Alfonso Cuarón and later to Mike Newell before settling on Yates for the series' final three sequels, Heyman has plenty of confidence now that "The Half-Blood Prince" is ready to make its summer debut.

"One of the great things about working with David Yates is that he's a wonderful director and he's incredibly open and communicative," Heyman said. "He's incredibly ambitious for the franchise, just as I am."

The long-awaited, eagerly anticipated, arguably over-hyped Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has arrived, and the question on the minds of kids, adults, fans, and skeptics alike is, "Is it worth the hype?" The answer, luckily, is simple: yep. A magnificent spectacle more than worth the price of admission, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will blow you away. However, given that so much has gone into protecting the secrets of the book (including armored trucks and injunctions), don't expect any spoilers in this review. It's much more fun not knowing what's coming--and in the case of Rowling's delicious sixth book, you don't want to know. Just sit tight, despite the earth-shattering revelations that will have your head in your hands as you hope the words will rearrange themselves into a different story. But take one warning to heart: do not open Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until you have first found a secluded spot, safe from curious eyes, where you can tuck in for a good long read. Because once you start, you won't stop until you reach the very last page.
A darker book than any in the series thus far with a level of sophistication belying its genre, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince moves the series into murkier waters and marks the arrival of Rowling onto the adult literary scene. While she has long been praised for her cleverness and wit, the strength of Book 6 lies in her subtle development of key characters, as well as her carefully nuanced depiction of a community at war. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, no one and nothing is safe, including preconceived notions of good and evil and of right and wrong. With each book in her increasingly remarkable series, fans have nervously watched J.K. Rowling raise the stakes; gone are the simple delights of butterbeer and enchanted candy, and days when the worst ailment could be cured by a bite of chocolate. A series that began as a colorful lark full of magic and discovery has become a dark and deadly war zone. But this should not come as a shock to loyal readers. Rowling readied fans with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by killing off popular characters and engaging the young students in battle. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is an upcoming 2009 fantasy-adventure film based on the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It is the sixth film in the popular Harry Potter films series. It is directed by David Yates, the director of the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. David Heyman and David Barron are producing the film,[4] and Steve Kloves, screenwriter of the first four films (but not the fifth), has returned as screenwriter for this film.[5] Filming began on 24 September 2007, and the film was originally planned for a UK and North American release on 21 November 2008,[5][6] but on 14 August 2008, it was announced that the release date for the film was to be delayed to 17 July 2009, but this date was later changed to 15 July 2009.[1][7] Like the previous film, the sixth film will be simultaneously released in regular cinemas and IMAX 3-D, however in the latter, rumours suggest that under 25 minutes of the film will be in 3D

The long-awaited, eagerly anticipated, arguably over-hyped Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has arrived, and the question on the minds of kids, adults, fans, and skeptics alike is, "Is it worth the hype?" The answer, luckily, is simple: yep. A magnificent spectacle more than worth the price of admission, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will blow you away. However, given that so much has gone into protecting the secrets of the book (including armored trucks and injunctions), don't expect any spoilers in this review. It's much more fun not knowing what's coming--and in the case of Rowling's delicious sixth book, you don't want to know. Just sit tight, despite the earth-shattering revelations that will have your head in your hands as you hope the words will rearrange themselves into a different story. DVD Harry Potter 6 will be Released after Casting Complete

Casting has been completed on the upcoming sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Warner Brothers announced. David Yates, who directed this year's Order of the Phoenix, returns to helm the next installment, based on J.K. Rowling's book.

Among the new cast members are Jim Broadbent, who will play potions professor Horace Slughorn, and Helen McCrory, who will play Narcissa Malfoy, mother to Draco Malfoy and sister to the evil Bellatrix Lestrange.

Also new to the franchise are Jessie Cave as Lavender Brown, Hero Fiennes Tiffin as young Tom Riddle and Frank Dillane as the teenage Riddle.

The returning cast includes stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron) and Emma Watson (Hermione), who will be reunited with Helena Bonham Carter, David Bradley, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Natalia Tena, Julie Walters and David Thewlis, as well as Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis and Bonnie Wright.

Steve Kloves, who wrote the first four installments of the film franchise, is adapting the screenplay.

DVD Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince (DVD Harry Potter 6)

Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts turns out to be quite the exciting year. First off is the arrival of a new teacher at Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn, who is a bit more useful to Harry than he realizes. Next, Harry obtains a Potions book which used to be belong to the very mysterious Half-Blood Prince. Harry finds that the Half-Blood Prince's ancient scribbles are written along the margins of almost every page, giving Harry advice on how to improve greatly on his Potions work, and also teaching him a few helpful (and dangerous) spells along the way.

Amidst this, Harry is starting private lessons with Professor Dumbledore, during which Harry learns the dark secrets of Voldemort's past, hoping that they could use these secrets to find a way to defeat him.

Harry's year gets even more stressful with the suspicious actions of Draco Malfoy, who has been sneaking around the school doing, so Harry assumes, Voldemort's bidding. Harry quickly becomes determined, and slightly obsessed, to find out exactly what Malfoy has been up to and putting and end to it.

Yet, during this time, Harry and his friends go through daily life, busy with school work, Quidditch, (in which Harry has been made captain of the team) and of course, romance. Ron has found a new girlfriend, Lavender Brown, a perky (if not obnoxious) Gryffindor student, and Hermione is not happy about it. Ron and Hermione's friendship takes a toll throughout the school year and Harry, as usual, is stuck in the middle. Harry, meanwhile, is facing a romantic dilemma of his own: he realizes he is falling for his best friend's sister, Ginny Weasley, who is unfortunately dating Harry's classmate, Dean Thomas. Harry's pining for Ginny and Ron's hilarious relationship with Lavender give this story a large dose of reality.

Throughout all the school drama, however, the obvious darkness of Voldemort's impending rise to power is always apparent. The incredible action-packed climax is sure to leave the audience stunned and, inevitably, prove that you shouldn't trust everybody who you think is good and also prove that not everyone can manage to survive.
